A Kitchen Makeover

A little lot of paint and color co-ordinating go a long way to make a kitchen transform from blah brown to Wow White and Light! This is a recent project I completed after months of consulting with my client to help her transform her once dark and heavy kitchen into a brighter more lively version. She had additional cabinets constructed to give more height and extra storage space which were painted to match the same finish that was used on the original cabinets. Gone is the stone backsplash and has been replaced with a glossy white subway tile. We kept the island and original hardware to help tie in with her brown and black flecked granite. The white cabinets help her wall color (Sherwin Williams Rain Dance) to really sing. Don't you think?

How to Pretty Up a Powder Room

 

Powder Rooms to me are like jewelry boxes. Small spaces to show off your bling! Why not start with a glam paint treatment like metallic ombre stenciling or add ambiance with a little texture. These are few of my personal favorites from projects I have painted in the past. Once the paint is in order it provides the perfect backdrop for adding glittery touches like chandeliers, silk draperies, and gilt mirrors.

Composing Cabinets

Two kitchens. Same treatment. Painted Oak cabinets with a Minimal Glaze option in the recessed areas. On the first kitchen we added new crown with rope detailing and trimmed out the exterior, once plain panels, on all sides. A little paint magic goes a long way. This oak stairwell had been painted white with oil paint so instead of stripping it all down and restaining, I opted for a painted wood effect known as Faux Bois. It gives the allusion of natural wood. The idea was to match the newly stained floors and steps. So with a little paint concoction, and my magic wand, I transformed this Entryway.

Tree House Fun

What a fun job this week, creating a fantasy land for three children in a converted closet. What once was an ordinary storage area has now become a magical fort in the sky. You've got that Aged Effect On Me

Some cabinets I've been working on this week! Went from a medium toned taupe to cream  with aged effect.

When in Rome.....

 

 

 

 

After a trip to Italy this summer, this client came back with visions of Rome for her dining room. What was once a black ceiling with white columns is now a little piece of Italy in her home.  The ceiling, inner and outer trays along with all trim, wainscot and columns were given aged treatments and faux marbling to create this one of kind taste of Rome.

 

 

Updating an Entry

  

This project was really fascinating to analyze ... Here is a room that had been faux up 10 years ago and I cam to its rescue to bring into the next decade. From a burgandy base with orange peel texture and metallic gold sponge wash to...

a smoothing plaster finish in a blue green with a antiquing glaze.  Its fun to imagine what will be done to it in 2020.

 

Creamy Dreamy

 

 

There is something really wonderful and exciting when I get to dip into a can of cream paint to white wash the world. It feels as though it brings a little piece of heaven on earth to cover over past sins with a bit of cream. Not too stark, not too understated. Just right.

Rich "Wood Grain" makes an Entrance

 

 

 

Believe it or not each of these doors were originally white aluminum surfaces before given a trompe l'oeil (french for "to fool the eye") touch with my paint brush. Amazing what a little paint can do completely  change your home.. inside or out. Call for a free estimate. If you can dream it, I can paint it! :)
