This Little Piggy Went to Market

It was a busy weekend in Nashville with art fairs, the Country Music marathon, great music and more. For us at the Walden Artisan Market it was a beautiful event. The over 80 degree weather brought out shoppers looking for Mother's Day gifts and a shady spot to view local art. Thanks to our supportive community of friends who drove near and far to pay us a visit at our first official event.  Here's a glimpse into the Gathering Spriggs booth.  The other half of Gathering Spriggs, Eve Peach is responsible for the fiber, printmaking and book arts, and I provided paintings, stenciling and vintage housewares.  If you see anything here you like, check our Etsy shop this week as we will be adding our booth inventory. Repurposed Flea Market Finds via Etsy

I am so excited over these new/old finds via the artists over at Etsy. It requires a good dose of creativity and ingenuity to imagine beyond only one use for an object. Here are some of my repurposed favorites! 

The Prison Door Chapter 1 via Maxwell Street. This is a fully recycled piece which references The Scarlet Letter. Such a hauntingly beautiful image.

I adore this image from  Paper Home.  Beautiful colors,design and creative photography to feature the repurposed vintage tray hanging on the door.

Sneak Peak

Here is your sneak peak of the work Eve and I have been preparing for the Walden Artisan Market. Even if you are not able to come, we'd love to hear your thoughts, so we can better serve you in the future. Eve, my business partner and college friend is a tremendous fiber artist and printmaker.  She has created aprons, hand printed notecards with matching envelopes, silkscreened T-shirts,purses and more. My work is two dimensional : paintings, printed textiles, and includes a potpourri of vintage of housewares from my collection. Thanks for stopping by!

Repurposed Flea Market Finds

This salvaged mantle featured on Apartment Therapy came from a weekend DIY project by one of my fellow bloggers and crafter extraordinaire,  Kimberly of Niesz Vintage Fabric. 

Finally Kat at Koko studios has found a lovely and creative use for those brass lighting fixtures of the 80's and 90's. I have found heaps of them at our local Habitat for Humanity home store!

Vintage Finds

As spring approaches and showers rain down with anticipation of new life, I have brought together a vintage collection inspired by my favorite time of year. Most of these items were brought back from antiquing in Chicago. For more info on these treasures, visit the Esty shop.

Windows in Chicago

This weekend my husband and I took a quick excursion up to Chicago. Our favorite home away from home. I started at a compelling exhibit "Across the Divide:Reconsidering the Other" at Illinois State Museum Chicago Gallery.

 

A beautiful fiber/performance collaboration piece by

 Michelle Feder-Nadoff and Kanaan Kanaan.

The duo created this work by weaving the threads back and forth to each other -standing on opposite sides of the fabric. The performance was recorded during the opening and this is the remains.  The above link offers wonderful images of the piece in action. (Titled:"Passing")
