Happy New Year's Eve! I had every intention of putting together a comprehensive list of all my favorite blogs of 2009, but quite honestly haven't had the time today. So, here are a couple of new blogs I have been following as of late. Making Arrangements is an interior design consultant's blog written by my new friend Kristie Barnett of Nashville. We met via Apartment Therapy and became Facebook friends and she even came to my Christmas party! Thanks Kristie! And Beautiful Things to Share became a new fav this week via Dress Design Decor. Do you have big plans for New Year's Eve this year? Right now, mine are pretty minimal. The fam is still here and maybe we will try to stay up together, but its definitely more about resting and relaxing. So where will you lay your head on New Year's Day? Flea Market Storage Solutions Revisited

 

 

 

 

Happy Monday!! Can you believe it?? Is this year really almost over??  Of course this is such a good period for reflection between the end of one year and the start of another. My family is still here and will be here through the end of the week. It is such a treat to have all with us here in Nashville for the first time. It has been fun filled and busy but I won't forget about you! How was your holiday celebrations? Lots of food and fun? I sure hope so and would love to hear all about it!  

I began recalling some posts from earlier in the year and remembered this series on flea market storage solutions. I have decided to resurrect it for 2010. I still love finding new ways to incorporate new and well worn pieces together for creative home organization. Do you have any good ideas? Maybe you can let me know as this series progresses in the coming month. This is your sneak peak!

Twin Set

 

 

 

 

 

So its after Christmas already! Can you believe it? I'm still in a satiated state of relaxation. And dreaming of Spring and Summer already and then came across this lovely Australian vintage clothing shop, Twin Set. And since it is Summer there, these dreamy images of vintage dresses fit the bill perfectly! 

Twin Set is the collaborative effort of Angela D’Alton (Leeloo) and Renee Baker (Art4Friends) who began this fanciful shop as a way to provide local vintage with beautiful pictorials. And my have they succeeded. Be sure to check out their Lookbook!

Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas! I hope you are beginning to see family, filling your home with seasonal scents, donning holiday apparel and feeling merry and bright. Yesterday was my last day of work this year and my mother and sister are here baking and making my home feel full of joy, we have more family traveling in on Christmas Eve that we are preparing for. I have been reflective over all that I am thankful for this year. So much has happened! Namely moving into a beautiful new home to share with my family (this is our first year to host Christmas after living here for 7 years).

This is my Christmas card to you! I am so blessed by you and your lovely comments. Blogging has been something that has me so much joy this year as I have made so many beautiful new friends. YOU!!! You are the reason I keep doing it. It seems that in my day to day work, I have frustrations or deal with difficult clients from time to time, but I always know I can come back to you! THank you for reading, thank you for sharing your hearts and for being there! I HEART YOU!

Sibella Court has my dream job! She is a stylist, a designer, a TV judge for a design show, and has developed her own line of paint , oh and don't forget Interiors Editor for Grazia magazine and developer and curator for Anthropologie US and UK. She has worked with Donna Hay to create her signature style and design giants such as Bergdof Goodman, Bloomingdales, West Elm, Pottery Barn, etc. She lives in Australia again after a stint in the US and creates grandiose as well as small vignettes. To me, her style is nomadic, colorful and beautiful yet not too precious. She designs with carefree innovation. It is completely inspiring to me to create with such freedom. I especially love some of her colorful and sparkly vignettes for the holiday season. What do you think??

Thanks to my dear friend, Elizabeth, I have been introduced to talented fiber artist, Emily Barletta. Of course you might have already seen her work in the Oct/Nov American Craft Magazine , Design Milk or Dude Craft.  Emily's tedious handiwork is the by product of long hours dedicated to embroidery and crochet in turn creating a physical record of her passage of time. With each stitch she creates an attempt to filter out pain from her body. Each piece morphs and flows into organic shapes referencing body, tissue, cells etc... I am especially fond of her color palette and use of reds, aquas, greens and pink which bridge the bodily with the decorative creating visually stunning pieces.

Shop Around the Corner: Parcel

 

 

 

 

Happy Friday!! The end of a very large project is in sight for me. And my mom and sister are arriving in town this evening for their holiday stay. To be quite honest with you, I have yet to do my shopping but hope to get that started this weekend. I love creative wrapping options and try to reuse materials for my Christmas gift wrapping but if I lived in New Jersey I would hop on over to Parcel for all of my festive needs! It's chock full of creative ideas for the gift giving season. Thankfully they do have an online shop too. So what are your holiday plans looking like?? Anything exciting planned this week?

Isn't it interesting how simple little things like the arrangement of design elements can affect our spirit and our bodies? Its that time of year where the stress starts to pile on and deadlines seem harder to reach with gift giving and company arriving. For me, its been an especially busy week, but I have found that my daily blogging routine helps me feel connected and grounded. Then I discovered the simply peaceful photography of Rachel Saldana (of Buttons McGee). Her gentle and quite still lifes bring a sense of respite to my weary body and soul. I am fascinated by the beauty she finds in the simple possibly mundane objects of daily life. Please take a scroll through her album. There are many more that I couldn't possibly all fit here.
