Having Fun ...

Just a quick hello to say, I'm having fun with Poladroid! Have you tried it? Its a quick download and then you just drag and drop your images into the Poladroid camera and poof. Your own little digital polaroids! So fun! Quick and easy. Im also baking some this weekend and found the best chocolate chip cookie recipe ever! seriously. Im no baker and have tried a lot of different recipes. These are the perfect cookie. I'm having a hard time not devouring the whole batch. Perfect with a cup of black tea, like Assam or Cream or Caramel flavors. So what are you doing this weekend? Any great finds or recipes to share??

It is my favorite season for fashion with floral prints, little cardigans, bold accessories and then there is the whole nautical theme!! I've been obsessed with Navy blue, polka dots and seersucker since I was  in middle school. LOvE!  How 'bout you? Do you like Spring fashion? if so, what are your favorite dress up pieces?

Another day has dawned and I am reminded to take one day at a time. Last night I was thumbing through some past issues of Domino magazine and had bookmarked a feature on textile designer, Anna Dove. (Oct. 2007) I remember being drawn to her ethereal designs - handpainted and crafted with gentleness and care. Each of her works is digitally printed on paper or fabric and the textiles receive a final touch with hand painted embellishments.  So sweetly feminine and lovely. The darker color ways have a more magical feeling and she suggests pairing them white furniture! Oooh, la la.

Good morning dears! It is Thursday here and you know what that means! The weekend is right around the corner. My husband and I have been dreaming about places to go for Spring break and it has put me in vacation mood. Then I stumbled upon a wonderful tumblr blog, Its Mary Ruffle and here images totally took me to that place I have been dreaming of! As I began poking around I found out that Mary, (Mary Swenson) has an entire empire of beauty and loveliness. She writes a blog, Pretty Good. And also is a photographer and stylist. And if that is not enough she writes as a contributor to Kirtsy and has an etsy shop , T Ruffles . This lady is oozing talent. Hope you have poking around her sites!

Do you remember Katy,the window friend of Anne Shirley in the book Anne of Green Gables? It was an imaginary friend who lived in the windows that Anne could go to in times of need. I had many window friends growing up (until my sister was born). But what if our dear window friends got a little make over? Isn't it time we take them shopping and do a little "What Not to Wear" magic?  My window friends have been sorely neglected. Fortunately this house came with a few sheers and wood blinds when we moved in or I would still have sheets hanging. Gasp! Nevertheless, its time my window friends grow up and don some more serious big girl clothes. So here are some of my favorites from my inspiration folder that I share with you today! So how about you? Good Morning dears! It has been one of those mornings already. This is my second attempt at this post. In the first one I tried to post it and my internet service went out and I lost everything! Urggh! So I am trying to let all that go and rewrite with my same enthusiasm I had the first time.  

So How are YOU? Are you a collector of things? Do you get inspired by objects that have history. Well, I am not only a collector but may I dare say a bit of an addict when it comes to vintage housewares, jewelry and clothes. Someone once told me the best thing for a collector to do is to sell your wares and share them with others, because there really is no cure for the disease. So that is why I opened my own little shop up. To have excuse for my addiction. These images all came from a little gallery I started to share photos of great finds. So do you have any collections. I would love to hear about them or even better you can upload photos and share them here.

Finding Calm

 

 

 

 

I think I found calm here in these immaculately serenely styled rooms by Sally Conran. I love the presence of space and light. Open room, Open heart, Open mind. Ahhh. Im basking. They feel like Yoga for the soul. Now, I am going out to take my little Domino (our border collie/terrier mix) for a walk. Although it is chilly again I think I need to be outdoors and away from the desk a bit today. Hope you take some time for yourself today to renew, and refresh. See you back tomorrow, dears!

Color Story: Lavender Fields

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Happy Tuesday! So as we draw near to the end of February I have been thinking alot about the future. My future, yes, but also the future of design and color trends. I was looking through a stack of about 20 magazines this weekend and I felt a little sad. I feel as though we are on the precipice of a new design era. And I have a feeling it will be less frilly, less feminine as the last since we know how trends always react to the previous ones. Anyway, I feel as though change is in the air. I myself feel tired of my usual finds, pink rooms, chandeliers, hearts, ( I don't know. maybe it is just the Valentines overkill). But I am ready to move on. Embrace change. So I have been thinking about colors inspired by nature, by the country, by lavender fields at dawn and dusk, where firey golds and corals might change the landscape. I grew up in the Texas hill country and so miss the majestic sunsets and sunrises, filled with vibrance and calm all at once. 

So what is your take on changing trends. Are you up for a new dawn in design?

Crinson Wallpaper & Tile

 

 

 

 

 

 

Pretty funky, huh? These are the works of British designer, Dominic Crinson known for his striking and eye catching pops of color designs in tile and wallpaper. These of course are the more serene of his designs. I really love some of the shower installations and fireplace surrounds. Some with female nudes and even city scapes created out of tile. Scandalous! I hope to embrace such boldness as I continue working on my own home or in the homes of others. That is one of my new year's resolutions - to be more of a risk taker and live more openly and honestly. I tend to be a bit of a fraidy cat. How about you?Are you a risk taker or more subdued??

Good Monday Morning! Can you believe it is the start of another week? It felt like Spring here in Nashville this weekend. Sunny, warm, breezy and the birds were singing. It definitely put me in the mood for spring. Then I paged through the new Jcrew catalogue and I just adore their Spring color palette. Pale neutrals, lady like nudes paired with unexpected pops of color. So I found a few rooms to match their aesthetic. So how was your weekend? Are you excited for the season of new life to come?
