Happy Memorial Day! Not only are we off of work today here in the states remembering those who served our country but it is another special occasion in my life. Today is our 7 year wedding anniversary.. The years seem to have slipped by somehow but at times we still feel like we are in the honeymoon stage. Its amazing how you can develop as a couple over the years and come out stronger in the end as you wade through the storms and enjoy the rainbows. So here we are. I regret to say that I don't have very many digital images of our wedding since 2003 was eons ago in the world of technology. But I do have a more recent pick to share that captures our spirit.  Thanks for being my friend here and for sharing in our joy.

Now, I'm off to celebrating... Hope you enjoy your day off if you have one. And if not, blessings to you today, fresh with no mistakes in it!

Shop Around the Corner: Obi and Moo

 

 

Greetings dearests. Its a been a long morning trying to get this post to you... but I think I am ready for the weekend now. How about you?? Any big plans this weekend. Here in the US it is Memorial Day weekend , traditionally a long weekend of relaxing, vacationing, backyard barbecue and welcoming in summer. Do you have any exciting plans ?  I plan to stay at home and enjoy my outdoor patio with my family. It is an unfinished space that I would love to furnish with all natural items like those from Obi and Moo, an online home furnishings shop specializing in natural materials and the casual look of the French countryside.

Things I Love Thursday: Classic Polka Dots

Its Thursday and I really can't quite believe it. Im in shock that the month of May is nearly over. Wow! Where did it go?  Now school is almost out for summer, graduations have come and gone and June is right around the corner. I must confess that I am not really a swimsuit, summer love, sandals and beachwear kind of gal. But when I do don summer attire I prefer a bit more classic take on the subject with my favorite timeless navy polka dot theme. Ever since high school I dreamed of working a vintage pinup girl kind of summer look with a classic maillot, tortoise shell sunglasses and maybe some navy or red espadrilles. Of course now that I am older it really is just a dream... but these images have me swooning for that classic take on summer love!  How about you??

Neo Traditionalism

 

Happy Monday dears!! How was your weekend?? We felt summer here for the first time this year, while Eve and I trekked out in the heat as die-hard flea marketers. We strolled about in delight licking popsicles with arms full of a monumental load of treasures... (some of which i will share later this week).  As I put finishing touches on my own home and find myself purchasing pieces with a bit of history, I am constantly asking myself how I can take these pieces from the past into the present.  How can I create a new traditionalism.  Here are some images that have sparked my imagination.... I love the idea of pastel touches or punches of bright color such as chartreuse, magenta or violet with darker traditional curvilinear pieces. What do you think?

Shop Around the Corner: Ashes and Milk

 

Good Morning and Happy Friday!! Do you have big weekend plans?? Unfortunately I will be working to get caught up some jobs before my family arrives next week and then I will have some much needed time off.

Maybe it is the reality that hits after a devastating flood which hit our city a couple of weeks ago, that has caused me to become more acutely aware of the small things that can be done to take care of our local environment. And from a design standpoint I am craving simplicity, neutral palettes and all natural materials. 

So meet Ashes and Milk: an incredibly curated online gallery/marketplace for all things simply stated and uniquely crafted for individual use. I love the bird pieces... Which ones are your favorites??

Sustainably Chic

Are you still hunting for good eco- design options? I never knew a nursery could be so eco-chic until I was introduced to Marsh & Clark's  recently transformed third-floor attic bedroom into a tranquil and sustainable nursery for the 2010 San Francisco Decorator Showcase. Its devine!! Such a sophisticated nursery option showcasing three matching, hand-crafted cribs, created by local craftsman Rob Taboada,  with toxin-free materials, sustainable hardwoods and a zero-VOC glossy finish.  These are so stylish I think I want one now!  The blue powder room was Marsh & Clark's first Decorator showcase home in 2009.  I've seen some images from other designers in the showcase and this is by far my favorite space!!

Things I Love Thursday: Wildflowers

When I was a child every Spring in the Texas Hill Country was like waking up to a magical world where all was in bloom. The wildflowers are a spectacle to be sure after living in a faded place for most of the year. And they are kind of famous too (at least that's what we Texans think) as we photograph open fields of bluebonnets, indian paint brushes, indian blankets and primrose... There were endless Easter portraits in the bluebonnet(the stat flower) patches, and walking home with a bundle of freshly picked foliage from the roadside ready for a glass jar and a window sill.
