Learning How to Hang

 

 

 

Its funny to think that I have been an artist and hung numerous art shows with friends but I still find it a challenge when it comes to hanging art in my own home. I find that I struggle with the age old question, "What to put on the walls". With my art background there is a temptation to turn each room into an installation piece or to go the other extreme and hang small pieces from my grandmother's attic. In my new home Im always on the search for creative ways to hang art. And in this images I am really feeling a need for symmetry. Or how about that wallpaper from Pip Studio in the second images. That might solve all my problems. So when you are getting ready for a room redo, How do YOU hang?

Folly and Glee

 

 

How about a little punch of color to get you going today?? Im scurrying around trying to tie up loose ends before heading out the door for a trip to see family in Texas tomorrow, so I just want to leave you with some fun quirky colorful finds for home from Folly and Glee. This swell shop offers upcycled vintage finds , unique handmades like those fab-tab lamp shades and light fixtures made from vintage wallpaper and fabrics. The shade is actually a vintage Grandma Moses print! How divine!

Blog of the Week: Lovelie

 

 

 

Hello dears! How was your Weekend?? Did you relax or was it busy? Mine was both but I have been thinking alot about how busy I am and how I tend to live with the pressure I put on myself to do it all. Do you do that? Do you secretly want to be a Superhero? Its so hard for me to be honest and share with you how things are really going in my life. You see I am a perfectionist and am pretty hard on myself. (as I think most women are) and I tend to tell myself that I need to have it all together for you here tied up in a pretty package. So as I pondered these things  I came across a truly lovely blog written by someone who shares her heart and soul, her real life story along with her passion for gorgeous design in a beautiful blog called, Lovelie. Meet Ellie, a 20 year mother who is currently in school for graphic design and loves to design, craft and create with a zest for life. (Find more of her work at her Etsy shop). Her images are stunning and the blog is a true work of art, but it is her honesty, her raw energy, no apologies attitude that you will find once you dig a little deeper that I admire and hope to aspire to. So, thank you Ellie for giving me the courage to live life to the fullest without shame and with courage to reveal my true self.

Happy Friday! The weekend is in site. Do you have any plans this weekend? ( I am actually working - a craft show featuring new items from Gathering Spriggs) If we can survive the heat it should be fun!

But I wanted to leave you with a wonderful new to me shop from French textile designer Ann Hubert. La Cerise sur le gateau (The Cherry on the Cake) is a wonderfully surprising online boutique filled to the brim with colorful treasures of printed textiles for home, body, table and the kids. Things I Love Thursdays: Summertime Glassware

 

Oh, summer love! It's a hot one here and all I can think about is drinking iced tea on my back porch and listening to the fountain bubbling. But alas, reality says I must work on projects, laundry, dinner, preparing for our weekend Craft fair where I will be revealing all new product!

So I leave you to dream with me of such a summer day in the shade sharing a glass of something fancy just me and you! What is your favorite summertime beverage?

Grecian Getaways

Happy Wednesday dear friends! How is the weather where you are?? It is definitely summer here... so humid and hot. I went for a walk last night and felt as though I was swimming to get through the thickness in the air (and that was at 8:00pm!) yikes!  So when I came across these lovely images of white interiors bathed in the light of a cooling Greecian sea and sky I basked in them for awhile. What do you think of this all-white Mediterranean  style?  Could you use these style ideas in your home or will you wait for your tropical vacation to pursue cool whites with touches of blue?

Paumes

Have you ever awoken from a dream of a wonderfully magical place and then felt the ache that follows when reality hits? That has been my pattern this week and I thought the ache would continue haunting me until I opened my email inbox and found a request from the Japanese publisher, Paumes to share with you their latest project, Belgium Family Style. I was so enamored by the beauty of its pages that I have been searching their website for more beauty, the airy light filled rooms inspired by European summers. Although I don't read Japanese or French I managed to find my way around on my quest and discovered other books, a shop and blog. Hope you enjoy this mini online vacation too! (And if anyone can read Japanese I would love to learn more.)

Hello dear friends! Thank you so much for your well wishes during my brief hiatus. Your patience and love to me during that brief period away from Gathering Spriggs last week filled my heart and soul! Let me tell you it wasn't easy staying away. I have so much to share with you this week. And quite honestly it was a lesson for me in letting go, unplugging and taking time to hear from my heart again. So thank you friends for your grace and dear friendship. I enjoy what we share here in this little corner of the world. To honor the new blooms springing up in my heart and life, I picked some of my favorites from the beautiful work of Arizona based photographer, Monica Charbeneau. Making Time

Dear friends,

Today I am writing to let you know that I am taking some time off this week from blogging. My brain feels a little back logged with inspiration and creativity. I don't know if you ever feel this way, but I put a lot of pressure on myself to "do it all" and usually by trying to submit to those voices something gets lost in the process. You know how you put things on the back burner to accomplish the growing list of "to dos"? Well, my "to do list" has grown so much that the creative places have fallen to the wayside. In order to honor my artistry, I am taking some time off from Gathering Spriggs this week. 

Thank you for your love and support and all the precious comments you leave me. They warm my heart and I want to continue to bring you inspiration but feel like I can't do it when running on empty.

So I leave today (until next Monday) with an image from my Chicago trip - this is a collaboration with my photographer sister. And remember you are LOVED, always!

Gathering Inspiration : Lecien

 

 

Happy Monday to you!! How was your weekend>? I am still in Chicago with my family and enjoying every minute of it!! So I don't have much time today to chat but wanted to share with you some pretty fabrics from the Japanese textile company Lecien.  

The last few days have been a whirlwind of activity but I did have a chance to meet up with Brigitte of Covet Chicago and she is such a dear person! If you are a Covet reader you know that she is genuine, creative and full of life. Meeting her face to face her spirit and exuberance overflowed so much so that I walked away from the experience not only inspired but changed!  We talked for hours over tea and then her husband met us up for dinner. As a couple they are a total package. Lucas was so very kind and after sharing a plate of polenta together I feel as though we have known them for years and reconnected with long lost friends. Robert and I are looking forward to many more shared plates with them and hope they will come stay with us in Nashville next time! Thanks Brigitte and Lucas!! 

So you never know what can come out of commenting on someone's blog. It might just bring life long friendships!
