I don't know about you but I seem to have seen a ton of parakeet themes lately. M My sister pointed out these in the Anthopologie catalogue this month, and I have to kick myself for not getting a vintage pair for a steal in a antique mall in Kansas City. Usually not a fan of bird motifs, I have to say I have really fallen for these beauties. The colors are incredible (love the aqua, teal and yellow) with a tropical flair but not quite as flamboyant at the parrot. So what do you think?? Yeah or Neh? Or do you have another obsession that is now a trend?

I guess you know I've been obsessed with that Anthropologie peacock lampshade for months - I posted it in December as my "object of desire!" Just couldn't cough up $140 for it. I always seem to be attracted to birds in decor - birds, nests, eggs, birdcages. I'll be keeping my eye out for the lovely parakeets!

I'm not one for birds...but I suppose right now I'm into the paper garlands and things.
I do miss my *real* parakeet. We had to leave her in the states when we moved to Germany. But the paperwork is all sorted out now and my parents are bringing her in May. I'm so excited!

I was pretty obsessed with parakeets a couple years ago after getting a parakeet training record with a lovely illustration on the sleeve from the thrift store. that led me to reading all about them and finding the story of Pucky, the genius book record holder for the most words ever uttered by a bird (also a parakeet)...crazy stories about how smart that bird was. Now i'm into flamboyant chickens There's some amazing photos over at www.mypetchicken.com, including a breed of chicken that has silky white fur instead of feathers...who knew chickens could be so chic? :)
