Happy Friday Friends! Do you have fun plans this weekend? Im going to be antiquing and resting and taking more time in the studio. But before I go, I wanted to share with you a little project challenge with you that I am giving myself this year. Inspired by Lisa Congdon and her "Collection a Day", I am challenging myself to paint, collage, draw, or design one quote a day for the next 365 days. Each day I will upload said quote to this file in my flickr account. And of course I will keep you updated here weekly. Im excited for this new direction in my work and for the challenge it will afford (with you as my witnesses).
So thank you for your love, support and continued encouragement. I share with you because you have shared with me. Thank you for your glorious comments to my GS survey this week. Your words are invaluable. So.... here is the fun part of the challenge. It involves you! If you would like to collaborate with me in this project, then leave your favorite quote in the comments I will post it next week! And each consecutive week you will have an opportunity to leave your quote and become an artistic collaborator. You can leave any message of inspiration. From your grandma to Martin Luther King, Jr. or your own golden words (those are the best and I know you can do it 'cause I have seen some pretty powerful stuff from you in the past here in the comments).

Do you ever experience art that moves your soul or speaks to you on another level in ways that words can not describe? That is how I feel about Rebekka Seale's ethereal watercolor paintings. Their grace and delicacy move me. I am fortunate enough to have met Rebekka through a mutual friend and she, as a person, holds this same graceful abundance within her. She also writes a warm, affectionate blog which tells more about her story, and the process of adopting their daughter from Ethiopia. She uses her art to raise money for this purpose. Maybe that is why her work is so heart warming and accessible. Hope you enjoy getting to know Rebekka as much as I have and I anticipate getting to know her even more this year! Inspired by a post from Melissa at Design Box. A recent graduate of Holly Becker's Blogging Your Way E-course, she collected images of moodboards from her classmates and displayed them for us to view in her lovely post. I am loving how each piece is personal and not only reveals something about the creator but each stands alone as a work of art. I put together a little photo collage Moodboard of some images of my favorite objects but it didn't feel quite up to par with these. You can however, view it here. (Although these are my favorite colors I am feeling a bit more blue today than coral).

Happy Monday Dear Friends!! How was your weekend?? Are you covered in Snow?? Seems like most of the US is covered right now. I live in Tennessee and we rarely see snow this early in the season but it was a beautiful Winter Wonderland treat! Its already melting but it did afford me a day at home. (We don't really have salt trucks or the equipment to deal with snow to speak of, so the roads are always bad.) So I am planning to use my day off to do some crafting gifts for my friends and family. I was inspired by this Pinboard... all things FELT! Now, I have never really meddled with felt before but these ideas really look fun for some reason. After making a few floral brooches I gained some confidence with my crafting skills, plus I love working small and these little projects feel just do-able. I especially like the Purl Soho DIY tutorials!

Good Morning dears! How is your week treating you so far? Honestly, I am having a hard time getting back into the swing of things. Although delightful and soul satisfying, my Open House took a lot out of me and I am finding little inspiration/motivation this week. Can I just be honest with you even more to say that I think I'm in a bit of a blogging rut! My brain hurts for creative content. So I found these little hand made illustrated Christmas cards by Linzie Hunter that put a smile on my face. So simple and fun. I hope they find you well today.
Are you finding ways to avert the holiday stress? I would love to hear how you continue to find inspiration in a time of year so overly saturated.

Ah, friends. Its the day after my Open House Art Market and as it snows outside today my heart melts with gratitude. For you warmed me with your presence, your support, your generosity and devotion. Thank YOU!! It was a grand success and a wonderful opportunity to catch up with kindred spirits.

Here's a few things you may not know:
1. I was a performance artist (visual/fine art) in college.
2. Typically, I overdress rather than underdress for any occasion.
3. The only time I have been to Europe was two trips to Romania in the summers of 1999 and 2000. Coincidently I know more Romanian than Spanish (even though I grew up in South Texas)
4. I am a royal klutz. I can't tell you how many clothes I've ruined, dishes broken, body parts bruised and phones I have destroyed.
5. My design heroine growing up (we lived in the same town) was Carol Hicks Bolton, now a furniture designer for EJ Victor
6. I am an HSP
7. Although I graduated Summa Cum Laude, I am not a reader (or a speller). I have a hard time reading books, blogs, etc.. I think I was just good at memorizing material for tests.

Friends, Hello.
After an adventurous weekend and a 11 hour train/car ride I finally made it back to Nashville in the wee hours of the morning. So please excuse my delay in blogging and returning to the life I left behind last week. If only my dog and floors were as gracious and forgiving as you.
Honestly, I was hoping to craft a post sharing some of my new ideas on creative collaboration (after spending my Thanksgiving with the imaginative and thought-provoking Brigitte of Covet Chicago). Our conversations produced so much fodder for the imagination . Along with finishing The Art of Non-Conformity, my heart is rich with desire, hope, inspiration and touched by the beauty of true friendship.
So, I will leave you to peruse a shop I discovered last week before I left... a fanciful kind of wall decal company based out of Australia.
Mae is not your average wall decal shop. Its a new take on an old favorite. And its fabric!!! Squeal with delight!
