I'm pretty much a hopeless romantic when it comes to design and style. But a bit of a non conformist when it comes to traditional holidays. Thanks to my creative/forward thinking Mother, I grew up with a knowledge that you could create your own traditions or try something new each year to celebrate.  So in this post, I salute the simple things in life. Not that boxed chocolates aren't welcome ,but simple beauty, simple pleasures can be just as exciting. So here's to a relaxing day and wishing you time well spent with those you love!

      Good Morning! How are you today?? Its been a slow start with computer problems, and technical challenges this morning, but I think I am back in business now. I wanted to share the beautiful work of Swedish photographer Martin Cederblad. He has a luscious portfolio of beautiful interiors and sumptuous gardens. I feel inspired and ready for Spring! How bout you? Are you enjoying Winter still or looking forward to sunny days with budding foliage ?

Thanks so much for having tea with me today! Its gray and rainy here today so I am feeling the warmth of your friendship in the midst of this cold drizzle. How about spicing things up a bit round here?? I know, I cant stop with the patterns, but have been wondering about the idea of patchwork and wanting to add some pattern to my own home. What do you think? Can you do large scale pattern at home or in your wardrobe? I have a very fashionable and artistic friend who can wear head to toe 1960's vintage dresses with large pattern, but not me. I am pretty petite and usually opt for solids. However, I want to be a bit more adventurous and these bold colors and patterns help me think I can do it after all. Small doses at first though. How about you??

Good Morning! Hope you have a fabulous Tuesday! I am off to start a new job for a client today. And I wanted to share the work of interior stylist, Melanie Molesworth with you before I leave.  She has been featured in numerous magazines and even has a book, Junk Style. So I am sure you have spotted her work before, but when I discovered her here, it was a warm welcome.  I especially love the unique lighting fixtures in these soft and subtle spaces. Jutta's 1950's Bungalow Home Tour

 

 

 

 

 

 

Another rainy dreary day here. And after yesterday filled with rain and taxes I need some color in my life today! And I couldn't think of a better way than to share with you the colorful home of, Jutta! She recently got married and this couple is in the process of fixing up their 1950's bungalow in Finland! The colors she has chosen are bold yet somehow soothing and refreshing. Jutta painted those rockin' kitchen cabinets herself. And did you notice the wallpaper in the entry hall?? I am in love!! I really admire people like Jutta who aren't afraid of taking risks, and they always pay off ( if you follow your heart). She has been documenting her process on flickr and her blog, Kootut murut. (dont worry, she writes in english too). Hope you enjoy the fearless designs Jutta has to offer. I can't wait to see it what else she comes up with. Maybe I need to go paint something hot pink now. Thanks Jutta for the inspiration!

Happy Monday! A new week has dawned. How was your weekend?? Mine was pretty restful, just running errands and working on few things around the shops. I did receive an email from a dear reader that got my wheels turning today about my goals here at Gathering Spriggs. Of course January seems like a good time for reflection. And with a world crisis going on, I think it helps put things in perspective. One of my early visions for Gathering Spriggs was to have a place for people to gather together ideas, inspirations, and influences. And as I a blog I would love to see this idea expand more to include YOU! So I have been toying with the idea of starting a Gathering Spriggs forum where we can come together and share more directly without being relegated to comments, etc.. I would also like to start inviting guest writers to come in and share inspirations. So what do you think of these ideas?? This is my informal poll today. Leave a comment and let me know if you would be interested in a G.S. forum or if you would like to be a contributor here.

The first image is a collaboration she did with Selina Lake and the third and fourth images are collaboration with stylist Polly Rawlings. I think these are  beautiful examples of what women can do when they join together to create and collaborate. Messy Morning

 

  

 

How was your weekend? Did your covers look something like this? I've noticed more and more photographs of beds that are a little less than perfect. When I grew up I was required to make my bed every morning with hospital corners. Now, I really like a nice made up bed but am a little more lax. And these images offer a symbol of intimacy, tranquility and down-to-earthness.  Now if Im going to an open house I would prefer that the bed was made up. What do you think?
