This woman is amazing with bedding and unique clothing designs. I'm inspired once again. Love this orchid color! How about you?

Happy Monday to you!! How was your weekend>? I am still in Chicago with my family and enjoying every minute of it!! So I don't have much time today to chat but wanted to share with you some pretty fabrics from the Japanese textile company Lecien.
The last few days have been a whirlwind of activity but I did have a chance to meet up with Brigitte of Covet Chicago and she is such a dear person! If you are a Covet reader you know that she is genuine, creative and full of life. Meeting her face to face her spirit and exuberance overflowed so much so that I walked away from the experience not only inspired but changed! We talked for hours over tea and then her husband met us up for dinner. As a couple they are a total package. Lucas was so very kind and after sharing a plate of polenta together I feel as though we have known them for years and reconnected with long lost friends. Robert and I are looking forward to many more shared plates with them and hope they will come stay with us in Nashville next time! Thanks Brigitte and Lucas!!

Well, my weekend was restful yet slightly productive. And I am beginning to feel inspired again (especially as we plan our weekend trip to Chicago where we will be taking my mom and sister for the first time). Other than traveling, I gather inspiration from talented artists and designers whose work and style feel like an extension of my soul. Leah Duncan is that person for me this week. She has built a mini style empire under her boots in Austin, TX. (my very own homeland). So maybe its feeling a little homesick for the subtle hues of red clay dirt and cactus but I am sure I am smitten with all Leah touches. She recently showed her work at the Renegade Handmade in Austin, writes a blog, keeps an etsy shop, and if that isn't enough also has a custom stationary business!!

Dear friends. Today I have a momentous occasion to share with you... My first book review from one of my favorite style setters, Christina Strutt of London's Cabbages & Roses. Include with that a beautiful introduction from THE Tricia Foley (whose own home is featured in the book) and I am in English Country heaven! At Home with Country is a formidable publication that has stirred my heart, memories of yesteryear and my love for all things peacefully romantic. But it is the spirit of Strutt's Cabbages & Roses and its quiet whispers of domesticity in uncertain times that causes it to rise above your ordinary decorating book. In Christina's own words: "Cabbages & Roses has stood its ground for the ten years it has been alive. We have gently grown and expanded, whispering rather than shouting, quietly infiltrating lives and homes throughout the world in the nicest possible way."
In doing so, Christina has traveled the globe in search of homes to share which she has treated with this delicate design philosophy. One of my personal favorites was her own home at Brook Cottage with its bespoke touches and the evidence of a real, lived in quality. Strutt makes no qualms sharing with us the everyday usability of her own home and how she transforms it from dog friendly everyday to dinner party formal. These lovely peeks into the homes of real people with down to earth hospitality are what establish this publication as a superlative read. And this open door policy throughout its pages create an invitation for readers of all style sensibilities with tips on incorporating bits of country into many possible scenarios, so you too can be At Home with Country.

Hello Dears! How is your week so far? Its been rainy and a little cold here lately and I am wondering where Spring went. Seems like she took a little vaca and left this part of the country for a tropical getaway. So her absence has left me longing for Summer, bold color, prints and patterns. Plus, I am thinking about working with a neutral base palatte and then injecting pops of color. Here are two printing companies that I think could do the trick: Ferm Living (from Denmark) and Print Ink Studio (out of Melbourne). What do you think?

Yay! Its Friday.... Although I am in the middle of finishing up a huge project this week, my eyes are on the prize of a lovely weekend. How about you any plans this weekend?? Do tell....

Another day has dawned and I am reminded to take one day at a time. Last night I was thumbing through some past issues of Domino magazine and had bookmarked a feature on textile designer, Anna Dove. (Oct. 2007) I remember being drawn to her ethereal designs - handpainted and crafted with gentleness and care. Each of her works is digitally printed on paper or fabric and the textiles receive a final touch with hand painted embellishments. So sweetly feminine and lovely. The darker color ways have a more magical feeling and she suggests pairing them white furniture! Oooh, la la.

Do you remember Katy,the window friend of Anne Shirley in the book Anne of Green Gables? It was an imaginary friend who lived in the windows that Anne could go to in times of need. I had many window friends growing up (until my sister was born). But what if our dear window friends got a little make over? Isn't it time we take them shopping and do a little "What Not to Wear" magic? My window friends have been sorely neglected. Fortunately this house came with a few sheers and wood blinds when we moved in or I would still have sheets hanging. Gasp! Nevertheless, its time my window friends grow up and don some more serious big girl clothes. So here are some of my favorites from my inspiration folder that I share with you today! So how about you?
